just noticed scat cranks for 355s are heaps cheaper than come cranks any one no if its quality or just a matter of making more money |

scat is what i have in my engine ryan. i think mainly its the us thing bud. anything made here is always dearer. check whether its a 9000 series or forged or just cast. the 9000 is a middle class crank from what i know. |

Was told from a very good source the chev off road and scat cranks come out of the same factory in china for chev cranks so you would assume its the same for 308 |

Actually, just remembered, when I bought my come crank, I was told that some minor aspects of the come is better designed. Journal holes or something... But other than that, much of a muchness. Still need to double check bearing clearances, my new crank had small variances that I mixed at matched with different bearings, something minor, like 1thou. |

Yeah my engine builder said that but other way around said my scat was better finished than the come one he did a week earlier |

By All accounts though, they are much the same (As Leigh said, probably come out of the same factory!) Just be sure to visually check the crank when you pick it up to make sure you don't see any obvious faults! Or Order it through you engine builder, as he might be able to send it back if it doesn't measure up right. |

Personally wouldn't touch scat mate. I've been told by my parts supplier that scat and eagle are both the same company and all comes from china. If you want to see what a eagle crank looks like after 600k's I'll show you pics of my old one which snapped completely in half. Cost me about 10k in damage and parts but that's just my opinion dude. I've gone a billet Callie's crank now but id always go come or if I was to build another motor with a cast crank again |

i no eagle have problems with the cranks snapping i no of 4 now 5 people who have had eagle cranks snap in 2 on them but ive never heard of a scat crank doing it |
