hi guys, took my LJ out for a spin today, got back home and at idle I noticed a knocking noise from engine, seems to be coming from rocker cover, towards the back near firewall and on passenger side. seems to go away when driving/revving engine. started it up again later and still a slight knocking noise but not as loud as before. any ideas? |

When the rocker cover comes off, check on the inside for a dint( I found a dint recently on my engine when one of the rockers came loose). And also get him to double check all of the other rocker bolts to ensure they are still all tight. Don't drive the car at high revs also when you drive it to eddys, as you don't want it to work itself completely loose etc. One other thing I noticed when I had a loose rocker is that the car was seeming to backfire in the inlet manifold as the loose rocker wasnt opening the exhaust valve... Does your car seem to be missing or backfiring on idle or low revs? |

ring eddy before you go driving it at all. you wouldnt want it to cause a spring to coil bind or something and hurt an engine |

You have a kc rocker cover don't you? We had an issue with clearance against the rockers at one stage and had to use the die grinder for some clearance, its was around the rib area. Could be another possibility anyway!! As much as i love my rocker cover we have done nothing but modify it since day one!! |

Just thinking, is it definitely coming from the rocker cover, or could it be from the clutch/flywheel? |
