so planning on pulling the 355 and 671 blower out of the vk and replacing it with a built bbc stroker and a 10/71 or 14/71.
after doing a fair bit of research i have found the only real problem with fitting it into the bay is the extractors not having enough room so the guys who have done it have move the block back and cut up the firewall to move them back.
Im not really very keen on doing that because of reducing cabin space and the blower will be just about hitting the windscreen.
So my thoughts where what if i had the front rails notched? is this possible ? any one got any other ideas that will stop me having to move the firewall back ?
just want to have it all planned and organised before the car gets pulled apart again...

Id be taklking too who ever is doing the exhuaste first. no matter what you do they can still say no thanks its too hard.

Id recomend dummy fitting block , heads and gear box and then take it to an exhuaste shop for them to look at before you do any mods. an other option is to raise the engine up a bit. you will still need to enlarge the tunnel a bit but you shouldnt need to move it back unless your blower pullies hit the radiator wich is also a possibility. As the v shapped engine comes up it will allow more room and clearance for steering, brake lines and wirering ect, wich will also help with the heat this puppy will be cranking out. it will melt wires and boil brake fluid very easy with such a tight exhuaste sysytem.
The other advantage is you can then drop the car on its guts without killing your sump or auto.

Id call exhuaste brothers in geelong they love hard stuff like this.

i didnt really want to out lay all the cash for the motor and box to find it just can not be done and then have to sell it to go lsx or sbc, maybe i need to just buy an old shitter 454 2nd handie and a t400 and go down to exhaust shop like u say then im not spending all the cash on the motor till it can 100% be done.

absolutely anything can be done with the right people on board mate. you could build a set of fender wall pipes even. that way room wont be too much of an issue. as for pulley clearance you can notch the radiator support and move the radiator forward, although i doubt there will be any front clearance issues if a 308 fits in there length ways easily and a small block fits then a big block will to.

im not worried about the blower pulley being to far forward as i was thinking about relocating the radiator any ways..., my question is more, is it possible to say cut the front rails down to half ? or is it going to weaken it to much? or would my guy who is doing that work upgrade to a thicker material ?? that would give me around abouts another 45 - 50mm to get pipes through that "should" give me room to run 2inch primarys then run them 4-1 under the car once they are out of the bay...

as it sits now with the 6/71 on the holden motor it has the blower pulley sitting maybe 15mm from the thermo fans, i forgot to grab a phone while i was out there today..

here is the room i have to play with as it sits now... we are hiding the booster so there will just be a motor in the bay and steering colum, also need to know if a t400 from a holden motor will bolt up to a bbc ??
