MY experiance with WHOLESALE AUTOMATICS

After hearing about wholsale automatics i decided to go see them as my t-400 of 10 years was getting due for a freashen up.
They quoted me $2000 cash or $2300 with a recipt and that would be one of there extreem boxes wich has all the bells and wistles, Got a big sales pitch about how they ship them all over the world becouse they are that good and well known, So there would bo no problem with it handleing my blown 383.

I took the $2000 cash option

since i only just built my 383 i decided to just run the motor and box in with a carby and manifold 240rwkw wooo hoooo, after i installed it i noticed the sump was leeking becouse the chrome sump they supplied had a pinhole in it so i took it back and needed to wait 3 weeks before they would fix it. ( oh and i got attidude when i was not happy after already waiting 2 weeks for it to be fixed)
THEN and after 800klm of this MASSIVE 240RWKW turture it burnt the clutches out , I went to see them and they agreed to take a look wich was very nice off them since i had done 800 klm.
They told me that the piston in the direct drum and the drum did not have a hole to release the oil pressure wich caused them to burn out, so they replaced the clutches ( I hope all of them)
I picked my baby up got 2klm down the road and noticed that at 60-70klm it would drop from 3rd to 2nd for no reason, so i turned around and took it back, I told them that if they needed to test drive the car give me a call i can be there in 10-20 min. the next day i got a phone call from them asking me bring down a jerry can with feul, they were test driving my car and it ran out of feul,,,,,,,,,, ( yay )
So i take feul down beocuse i was worried about it sitting on the side of the road and we go for a test drive, and its still dropping from 3rd to 2nd. So they keep the car again and have another go at it.
I pick up the car its all good i do another 300klm and then i bolt the blower on. gearbox works fine for next 3 years and does a massive 1000klm tops worth of cruising car shows and 2 easternats.

Now i decide to changed the valve body to a manual one and this is what i find,
1 random spring sitting in the oil filter and it has not fallen out of anywhere,
2 next to the valve body there is a piston cup with a c clip that holds a pin in place ( that clip is broken in 3 peices but 1 is missing, It had nowhere to go wich only means one thing it was installed like that!!!!!!!!! what were they thinking)
3 the bottom of the box wich is supost to under go percsion machining to make sure its dead flat has a 2-3 inch section that is clearly not flat.
4 after removing the forward drum and direct drum it appers to have stock thrust washers and clutch springs, also still has factory pump presure spring.
5 all my clutches are burnt out AGAIN............ But 2000klm is alot yeah
So i take my foward drum and dricect drum down to a diferent auto place only to be informed and shown that the plate that holds the clutches in was never mached flat corectly, and he belives that the box is suffering from line prussure issues becouse there is now way they would all burn out with such little driving even with the hp my car was making.

So thankyou WHOLESALE AUTOMATICS for the awesome gearbox but i will now be taking it elsewhere.

Dammit..always hate hearing stories like this.
Moral of the story should have been a manual

Ouch!!!!! That's not good...

sounds very similar to my experience with yarra valley autos i got the box in the statesman done after it shat a bearing and chewed it self inside out he gives me a spiel also how i should put in extra for a shift kit and kevlar clutches ect ect pick up the car drives great car goes in for gas conversion after doing about 1500 ks box starts shifting odd take it back tell him its not feeling right he tells me theres nothign wrong after a test drive 2 days later bang i have a 2 speed turbo 700 take it back tell him somethigns been f*#! he fixes it free of charge with a lil bit of attitude tells me not to give it a hard time i tell him bs ive given it a hard time

week after i pick it up drives perfect again then all of a sudden bang back to a 2 speed what the f? drive it up to the auto joint then he tells me ive been doing burnouts at which point i get a bit crank and tell him to fix his shotty workmanship anyway he bullshits me around for 3 weeks thats hes busy i drive past in customers car as i was working just down the road and his workshop is no busyier than usual finally the old man gets wind of it after a bad day at work and takes the opportunity to lash out at some one hahah grumpy bastard anyways i dont no what the story was with dad but i get a polite fone call asking for the car back and 2 days later a call to pick it up again he shows me the clutch drum has a massive crack in it and few other holes in valve bodys and sh*t and says something foreign must have contaminated the oil

any who once the old boy put the fear of the devil in him all was sweet and box is stil going today is feeling a little sloppy now might have to give it a clean out

holycrap not good batman at all.

My motto to my transmission guy is l dont want to see the f*#! box when l put it in, simple as that . In saying that if anyone wants a transmission guy who seems to look after me over the years without a single problem and lve abused the crap out of mine then l can meesage them the details he does it privately in the backyard in Avondale heights .

But my next box is coming from the states since lm putting a aftermarket box in it and want to overkill it in strength and not worry about it .

Not good to hear storys like that. You pay someone to do a job and it should be done right in the first place, let alone getting attitude when you have an issue with there product.

yep wholesale auto's are ripoffs! they built brentons first auto which was supposed to be thier you beaut extreme turbo 350, only thing extreme about it was the manual valve body as the rest of it was dead stock and its clearances were all up the creek causing it to chew out clutches and stuff the pump and converter. not fun paying for expensive parts you never get

Yeah I found out about mark after I had my box diner hats where I'll be going from now on
