And what a great Christmas party it was. I started the morning waiting for Simon to bring around the barbeque trailer, which was not looking to healthy and not very user friendly for bit of a clean up after it’s debut at the Spring Car Nationals weekend. As the clock was ticking by he turned up in my drive way two hours before the party. I already had the welder out and ready to use by the time he got there. In that time we changed wheels, modified the rollers on the feet of the BBQ, rebuilt the framing and many other last minute rushes, but we got it there. We knew we were late and I expected most of the club would already be there, but when we rolled up we were the first ones there except for the Dickson family that were the hosts of the party and who generously let us use their farm to camp and party on. The directions this time were a bit easier than the last time we had Melways instructions, and as far as I know no one got lost on the way. It was a big turn out for our first one, almost the whole club was there. After everyone had set up tent and unpacked their things we started having a few drinks while the footy was getting kicked around. Then the main activities started with a wheel changing competition, which consisted of a back end of a Mazda up on jack stands and a wheel brace on each side of the car. The aim was to start on the line which was about three metres away from the car, run to the car, take off the wheel pick it up and run back to the start line and then back to the car to put it back on the car then back to the finish line, lots of fun and laughs. After every one was exhausted after that we went back to drinking and started cooking on the BBQ for dinner. When every one was a bit tipsy or worse we started the next game which was the sack race in the dark with the car head lights guiding us to the end, every one should know how this one works, except one person who got a bit confused at the end, Sorry. I think we had about seven or eight races but I don’t know if there was a winner, there was people falling down every where some people very hard. Every one had heaps of fun. Once every one got their breath back the committee members thanked every one for coming and for all their support over the year. One thing I was not expecting was a trophy presentation. Two got handed out the first was to Adrian Haydon for “High Mileage Cruiser”, and the second one was to me and after a fair few drinks it took me a while to click on. My trophy was for “Automotive Mayhem”, which I greatly appreciate. As the night went on more people were drunk and started going to their tents. The morning after every one was looking a little bit average but no one was sick except for Paul Dickson, who had a very big night! On behalf of the members we would again like to thank the Dickson’s for letting us use their place and the committee for organising activities, cruises and merchandise and all their work over the year. - Written by Gordz - NVMYSS - Kick back and Cruize |
