Dromana Drive-In Night

12th October 2002

Well as per normal our convoy of Eastside Cruisers met and departed from Club Kilsyth, this time headed in the direction of the Dromana Drive-in. Never having been to a drive-in before, I was looking forward to seeing what it was like. The cruise down was a lot of fun – the route we took provided for good scenic driving. Quentin was still sorting out his new Chev engine so one or two stops on the trip done to cool the thing down were in order. This provided me with the perfect opportunity to buy some twisties after Kev teased me with some of his! Note: I also bought M&M’s – and the reason I mention the M&M’s is that some very precise driving (call us the precision driving team if you will), saw some M&M’s exchange hands (between my car and Simon & Kath’s car) whilst driving. Team-work!

Anyway!, the first thing on the agenda before the actual movie was some dinner to feed the starving gang. So we hit the main strip & ordered take-away. With most people grabbing fish & chips, we all sat outside and enjoyed the weather. Next stop was the bottle-shop for all the non-drivers, and then it was off to the Drive-in.

We lined all the cars up in a long line, cracked open some drinks, and then caved-in to the beautiful sweet smell of popcorn. Shortly after that the movie’s began so we all jumped back into our cars and tuned our radio’s in. I was having a top night flicking between the stations – at one stage I was hearing Austin Powers cries of “Yeah Baby” as I watched Tom Hanks shooting dudes! Scary stuff I know – maybe next time I’ll concentrate on one movie at a time! Having said that, mid-way through the second movie we decided we’d much rather watch the other movie, so we fired up the beast and tried to navigate our way (without turning the headlights on) into a position to see the second screen. We didn’t run anything over (to our knowledge), and then proceeded to watch ‘The Hard Word’ – top movie!

It was a great night overall & well worth the money. On the way home the sky opened up and provided us with a dazzling light show. See everyone at the next one...
