Well wasn’t I in for a surprise when I got to Club Kilsyth for the pre photo shoot meet up!!! We had 21 cars from the get go including 9 Mazda’s (RX2’s, 4’s & 7’s) 10 Holden’s (Torana’s, Commodores & 1 HZ Panel van) a Ford Ute & a Nissan Exa. With very average weather presenting itself that morning I half expected to be one of only about 3 or 4 cars. During the course of the morning we went to several locations (picking up a couple of extra's along the way) for photos. The first location being the car park near the now incinerated Top Shots pool hall. We tried to line the cars up but with the sheer number of cars the photos didn’t do the cars justice. We then scattered the cars about which resulted in several very good photos. We had a lot of places picked to go to for photo’s however we edited the list due to the average weather and number of cars we had. The second location was the Pool Room in Ferntree Gully. At this location we focused mainly on one make and similar model shots. This too resulted in some great photos. At this stage a few people with prior engagements headed off, while the rest of us proceeded to the Ferntree Gully Library (a location that was not anticipated) for some nature photos. At this stage we also gained another car for a couple of pics. We probably spent the most time at the fourth location, which was at Transdiff in Bayswater. Based amongst some factories, we got a group shot and individual photos of all the cars that were still with us (about 15 or so by that stage). Following that we cruised up to Lilydale Lake for what was supposed to be the last location but ended up being lunch and relaxation after going a million miles an hour all morning. The sun was well and truly out by that stage (resulting in a nice dose of sunburn for me) and we had a BBQ lunch before heading off home. All in all, it was a very successful day. On behalf of the committee, I would like to thank everyone who showed up and joined in. It was great to see so many cars at the meeting point when I got there. Considering the light rain in the morning the day turned out very well with a whole lot of nice cars joining the fun. - Simon |
