SugarLoaf Dam Cruise

18th August 2002

Well finally a cruise with NO rain!!! That’s right - finally a cruise with NO RAIN!!! The fact that I left my car at home for this run can only be a coincidence I believe. I would like to extend a huge thank you to all those people who came for the cruise and picnic. The weather, although a little overcast, was warmish but best of all – dry! We had a grand total of 23 cars on the run, from mild (daily drivers) to wild….. and a couple of people who mixed the two together by borrowing bits off their other cars….. you know who you are!!!

The run started out at Bayswater Macca’s around 11.15am. After every one being given a helpful set of directions to help them find their way, we all headed off toward our eventual destination. Obviously 50% of our number got lost due to a deficiency in the instructions (sorry all…. my bad) and the fact that the street sign for the final turn had been stolen!

Once we finally tracked everyone down and guided them back from as far away as Panton Hill, we settled down and enjoyed lunch, as well as the sights of Sugar Loaf Dam (and a whole host of hot cars). Many photos were taken by various members, and it was great to see other people take a walk amongst the cars and appreciate the hard work that has gone into them.

Just before people started leaving, we gathered most of the cars together and took some group photos. It was good to see a few of the forum members there on Sunday…. you guys and girls know who you are! Overall a great day was had by all those who attended (despite the detour via some scenic country side views).
