What is it with our drag days and hot weather??!!!! Yep, another stinking hot day! Although not as hot as last year, it was still a very warm day, with the temperature easily reaching 30 degrees. Better than rain though right! Damn straight! Anyway, this year’s event saw an excellent turn-out of both club cars, and invited friends. We had well over 30 cars racing, not forgetting that around 10 of those were entered with two drivers. Most people arrived at Heathcote nice and early this year, with everyone getting their cars scrutineered first up. Of course Dave J was first in line, eager to test out his Chemini project car (Which we’ll have a write-up on in the next newsletter). The day began with lots of grudge racing. Everyone seemed to be having plenty of fun, with minimal drama’s. The Dial-your-own classes saw for some very close calls, as many people were breaking out. The eventual winner for the girls was Kelly (for the second year running), knocking out Kath in the final. And for the boys, Ian managed to knock off Quentin. Congratulations guys!! A big thanks to the officials at Heathcote for running the day, and also for providing a couple of trophies which were awarded at the end of the day. Check out the following results! Bring on next year! Here are the results from 2004!! I tried my best to contact as many people as possible, but apologies to those I couldn’t contact, and to those I missed. It looks like Gordz now has bragging rights as being the quickest Eastside Cruiser at present, taking over Simon’s claim to fame from last year! Below are the times, starting with the quickest and working down...
It is great to see a lot of improvements for many people over last year. Drag out your old newsletters (Issue 3 - April 2003), to see last years results. Thanks to everyone for a great day of racing, see you all next year! - Brett Schubert |
