Dromana Drive-In Movie Night

30th October 2004

Well what a pearler of a day! The sun was out so the cruise down to Dromana for our annual pilgrimage to the Drive-In’s was set to be a good one. Rocking up at Club Kilsyth confirmed this as the carpark was crammed full of cars and people. It looked like a giant cruise was ahead! I counted a solid 30 cars during the cruise, so what an excellent turnout! It was great to see everyone out to enjoy the weather.

Shortly after 4:30pm we headed off. Taking a slightly different cruise route this year, we steered our way through Dandenong and as we got onto the Frankston-Dandy Rd we pulled over in the empty carparks to regroup. With such a big group it was always going to be a battle to keep bunched up. Not too long there and we were back in the cars again and continuing on our way.

The second half of the cruise was where the fun began. Cruising through the main drag in Mornington, we hit the Esplanade and proceeded to wind our way along the coastline, all the way through Mt Martha and into Dromana. Windows down, with the tunes cranking, I don’t know about the rest of you, but we were having a blast! (Just for interests sake, in our case it was a bit of classic AC/DC).

Arriving in Dromana we managed to find parks for everyone (just) and then it was a mad dash for tea. Unfortunately we didn’t choose the right Fish n Chip shop, and went on to wait nearly 50 minutes for our food!!! Not too worry though, we grabbed that and cruised back to the Drive-In. Most people settled in front of the “Collateral” and “Bourne Supremacy” screen. It was quite interesting as Deb popped her boot and setup the doona. Let me tell you, EH boots are surprisingly roomy and comfy!!!!

Anyway, it was another great night at Dromana, we got to chat to a lot of people and enjoy some nice cruising. Unlike somebody else I managed to stay awake to see the movies and thought they were pretty cool. And that was Dromana over and done with for another year! Hope to see you all on the next one!
