I can safely say the Extreme Machine Show had something to cover just about everybody’s taste buds! Meeting at Club Kilsyth at 7.30am we cruised over together in a massive convoy, arriving at Boronia Primary School just after 8am. With 21 cars in total for the display, not forgetting the Torana BBQ trailer of course, it was a fairly large display of club cars. The cars were arranged in a staggered style, facing each other in two long lines. We had some very light showers early morning, so all the chamois' came out in force! The day then cleared right up, and turned out quite warm. The crowd really started pouring in around lunchtime onwards, with heaps of stuff for everyone to look at and do. There were heaps of hot rods and a great variety of tough cars. Another car club I noticed with a display was a Brock Commodore club, with some very nice examples on show. Then there were a whole heap of crazy drag boats, with dirty big engines!!! Moving on, there were also the smaller boats which race around those tiny muddy circuits. There were all sorts of buggies & demolition derby style cars too. And I can't forget the biggest ever hovercraft I've ever seen! Can I please have one??? And of course we can’t forget the local 4WD club with the boys setting up some old car wrecks, before spending the entire day driving over the top, monster truck style! Very entertaining to watch!! The high-light for me though had to be the drag cars. And they weren't shy when it came time to fire them up and give the crowd a rev up either! The little HB Torrie had an engine bigger than the actual car itself, absolutely awesome! Once again, the bloke bought along his Back to the Future style Delorian too, complete with flux capacitor, time screens, sports almanac etc! Man I love that car! It was very popular with the crowd as usual. Besides that, all the kids were kept busy on jumping castles and slides etc. Once we hit 4pm, the cars began to leave. It was a very successful day, and they're looking like now running it again next year, bigger and better of course! It was great to see so many people turn out for this event, thanks to everybody who showed their car on the day, hope you can all make it again for the next one! - Brett |
