It all started bright and early at Club Kilsyth. 35 keen women dragged themselves out of bed for what promised to be a long day of shopping. We all managed to arrive on time which was a surprise and this enabled us to leave and land in Fitzroy early at Converse. We were let loose there for 30mins, many items were bought, and to our surprise $2078 was spent. As we were running early we were able to stop at the book shop which wasn't on the list. We managed to spend around $400. Next was Manchester Express, we fought our way through what felt like a million other women and spent close to another $2000! We then walked to Global Bargain Warehouse which had a variety of items from glassware to children’s gifts, a further $350 was spent which was surprising considering it was so cheap. At this stage we were running about an hour ahead, and we started to lose people as hunger was setting in. We all got back on the bus and took a drive to a ladies clothing store. This store did not appeal to many of the younger people’s style, so we managed to fit in another shop not on the list which gave us an extra $200. Even though the next shop was only up the road our feet felt a bus trip was in order. Whilst sitting on the bus we realised there were two missing, so Julie - our hostess for the day, went in search as we enjoyed a tour of the block with Stu the bus driver (who we are glad to say is now a member - go the Monaro's!!). Once we found Julie, she had managed to find James’ Mum and friend, who jumped on the bus ready for Beeches. This shop had a variety of family clothing and interesting food items, such as penis and boob pasta, many jokes were made but none were bought. Jeans were the next port of call at Niff Naff. As it was nearing lunchtime, a quick stop was in order but we still managed to spend about $300. In need of energy to go on, we headed to a quaint little Italian restaurant to enjoy a buffet style pasta lunch. The deserts, and of course the free champagne was popular. (Not to mention the pornographic mugs the owner was showing us all). All revved up and ready to go we jumped back on the bus. Parking down a little alley-way we walked the back streets and into World Kitchen. This shop was fun; it had lots of gadgets and good bargains on cheap Pyrex. We spent close to $600. Shoes were next on the agenda, once again crowds got the better of a few shoppers, however many bought one or if not two pairs of shoes, unless you were Juz who got a cheer when boarding the bus for buying 6 pairs!! This bumped our total to $600. Now comes for the sexy part - hope you are still reading boys! You guessed it….lingerie. Many bargains to be had, 3 pairs of jocks for 12 bucks! Can’t beat that! Low prices resulted in low profit - only $300 spent here. As promised if we were good little shoppers a visit to Newman’s chocolate shop was allowed, which is a good thing as we spent $486 on chocolate (well we had to buy the boys something). All feeling a little weary we drove off to the last shop Sirrico, a leather wholesaler. Travel gear, leather jackets, wallets and belts were mostly purchased but lines at the checkout discouraged many resulting in a spend of $600. Back on the bus for the final journey, it was home time and prize time. Julie our guide had managed to pick up many freebies which were given away on the bus. Liz and I were the lucky recipients of a sexy pair of brown thongs and a pillow protector because we dribble (apparently). Being the kind-hearted people we are, we donated them back so someone less fortunate than ourselves could enjoy them. A big thank you to Julie our hard working guide, and Stu, our bus driver who always managed to fit the bus into places we wouldn't even like to fit our cars. Also thanks to all the ladies who joined us and made the day possible. All up we raised a total of $1450 for the club. - Amanda & Liz |
