Shannon’s Great Australian Car Show – Sandown Racecourse

10th July 2005

Being on the Sunday following the club’s birthday party bash the night before, there were never going to be many Eastside Cruisers surfacing early for this one! I had planned to take down my new LX Hatchback “Limited Edition Granny Pack”, however that plan was aborted and I ended up driving Deb’s EH to the show which was held at Sandown Racecourse…..

What a great turnout of cars and car clubs. If they run this event again next year, we really should get a group together and make a display, there was plenty to see. I heard whispers of close to 500 cars? I could be wrong. Plus a good collection of trade displays and car parts. We said G’day to Dave J and the boys working at the Shannon’s stand and slowly walked our way around Sandown having a good old look at a lot of tough and classic cars. The day mainly catered for GMH, Ford and Chrysler cars, and there were certainly plenty of all of them! There were loads of quality cars, it was awesome. A few hotrods in amongst it too and I saw a nice Chev parked out front which I thought was pretty cool. As the day progressed, we bumped into quite a few of the crew who decided to come out for a look too. All in all, a top day!
