With miserable weather in the lead-up to this cruise, it was looking to be a very small one, but as I rolled into the Club Kilsyth carpark just before 7:30pm, I was greeted by the sight of cars and people everywhere!! That’s the spirit! It seemed everyone was keen to get out for a short, fun night cruise. Plenty of people decided to car-pool, so most cars were pretty full. Good excuse for the passengers to kick back and enjoy a drink along the way. From memory, there were around 30 people, in approx 15 or so cars, maybe a couple more. So the instructions were handed out, and we all peeled off in the direction of Yarra Boulevard…… I was running solo this night, so Adam jumped in with me to stretch his legs out and play navigator. A fair bit of traffic and the usual traffic lights along the way split the group up into several smaller groups, so we continued along with our own little convoy. Before too long…. The inevitable! Yes, we were too busy chatting when we should have been paying a bit more attention to the “destruction” sheet, and managed to get slightly off track. As it turns out, we not only completely missed Yarra Boulevard, but we then got to wave to Kath and company as they went sailing past heading in the opposite direction! Houston, we have a problem. Not to worry, we finished off the second half of the cruise and met up at the final destination – back in Bayswater at Anaconda. We parked the cars together and braved the cold night air for a bit of a chat with everyone. It was good to see a couple of new cars on the cruise, and also a couple of cars that hadn’t been out for a while too. Thanks to all who attended, see you on the next one… - Brett |
