Time once again for the annual interclub mystery tour. This event is always lots of fun, and this year was no exception, with an excellent turnout from many different car clubs including the 60-80’s, Southern Street Machiner’s, Victorian Mini Club, EH Car Club of Vic, Classic & Rod Club, Rootes Group Car Club, FE-FC Holden Car Club, and of course a few of our own crew! Overall there were around 30 cars participating. Our gang included:
The day started over in Wantirna at Koomba Park. As we rocked up at the meet-point, the weather was fantastic and it was looking like a great day for a cruise. There were a few seedy people suffering from a lack of sleep from the previous nights activities, but for once I was not included in that (the pro’s of being a designated driver!). Anyway, clue sheets were handed out and off we all went... With eyes on high alert we seemed to be doing a pretty good job of answering all the questions, some of the clues were definitely tricky ones. After cruising through Boronia & Kilsyth we spent some time around the Bayswater industrial areas, and it was here we stumbled across a heap of cars cutting laps at no faster than 10kmh as we all seemed to be stumped on the same clue! Next it was on to Heathmont before cruising on to the finish... Pulling into the final destination, we discovered it was the same place as where we started! We parked all the cars up on the grass, putting on a great display, and then got to check out all the other rides whilst being treated to a hot sausage sizzle lunch put on by the 60-80’s club. There were a heap of very interesting cars to look at too, and I got to meet some great people from the other clubs. After lunch it was time for the trophies and prizes. Having never done overly well at car rallies before, we were surprised to hear our names called out for 3rd place! Then going one better, Sime & Kath took out 2nd place! We were all set to take out the Trifecta, but 1st Place didn’t go to Liz and Ado after all!! Here’s the results:
There was also a Turkey Award which went to members of the Mini Club I believe. A raffle was also held to finish off the day. All the friendly members of the 60-80 Holden Enthusiasts Club deserve a huge thank you for putting on a great day. It was extremely well run, with a cool cruise, a great lunch, and some excellent trophies and prizes! And of course it’s always great to socialise with fellow car enthusiasts. Looking forward to the next one! - Brett |
