This cruise was meant to be searching for snow, but seeing how this year there was a lack of snow - that idea was canned and a new cruise was organised… We met up at Club Kilsyth and cruised out towards Healesville. It was beautiful weather for a cruise and a sign that Summer is getting closer. There were about 14 cars on the cruise and about 30 people in total. We headed up through the Black Spur and then arrived at our first destination of Steavenson Falls. There were a lack of parking spots at first, but eventually we all got a park, putting on a bit of a car show for the tourists up there. We then walked around to see the awesome views of the Falls. For me this was the first time I’d ever been there, so I was quite impressed. We took a few happy snaps before heading back down the carpark. Chris then took the opportunity to park his HX Tonner against an awesome backdrop to take some pics too, and we also had a few schmick cars from NVS Rides meet up with us here to join in for the rest of the cruise. So we got back in the cars for the short trip to the Igloo Roadhouse (Buxton Pub). This part of the cruise was fantastic, the sun was out, and with not much other traffic around our convoy of cars wound it’s way to Buxton. I’m not sure why they call it an Igloo, yes there is an Igloo shape to it but from the front of the place looking in, you can’t actually even see the Igloo side of it, it’s just an old servo! We all lined up to order some lunch, for some it was the exciting fate to see what the famous Buxton Burger looked like and Leigh even tried the even bigger burger called the Cathedral. It was like we were at a zoo at one point as everyone all sat around watching to see if he could beat the clock and finish the burger!! All in all it turned out to be a perfect day weather-wise, and everyone had a ball. A good event to just sit around and catch up with everyone. - Deb |
