Once again, the gears were put into motion for another huge day on the rollers. After a club record of 53 cars was set last year, the decision was made very early this year to pull it back a gear, and aim for a slightly less hectic day! Still a monster though, with a comfortable 45 cars being put through their paces. As you will see from reading through the results, there was a huge variety of cars as we've now come to expect. As they say, something for everyone's tastes! It was a great day weather-wise too, which made for quite an entertaining car show outside the workshop with cool rides of all shapes & sizes coming and going all day long. Ok, so onto the horsepower talk! It was a day full of excitement for some, as they made more power than expected, but a day full of frowns for others, as lower than anticipated power figures were reached. Several people had made changes leading up to the day - from new intake manifolds, to carb spacers, to superchargers, and of course a couple of the boys were getting all giggly as they played around with their nitrous kits! I know I'm not alone when I say "Gimme some NOS". Right from the start, we were running ahead of schedule, so I'd like to thank all those people who jumped in with their cars, and allowed us to continue all day long with no empty gaps. The day saw everything from 10.1 kW right up to 414.7 kW. Lots of new cars this year too, and several new members joining up, which is always great to see. These kind of days are put on for the members, without you guys and girls there is not much of a show. Quite a few from the Southern Street Machiners popped in for a squizz too - and it was good to see a couple of their members putting cars on. Good old Gary and crew had a real crack at winning the VB Slab raffle, but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be. That prize was won by Brad Dalton - who had already left for the day - so good mate Mackie didn't let him down, ripping open the slab to sample the prize at the end of the day. Crowd favourite of the day, was pretty clear this year as soon as Pete from Stylerod Panels rocked up with his immaculate black '56 Ford, and under the bonnet, nothing less than 514 CUBIC INCHES!!! A beautiful car indeed. The club Torana BBQ trailer was given a great workout all day, with bacon & eggs in the morning, followed by a sausage sizzle for lunch. THANKS to everyone who worked so hard - especially Big Dave, Deb, and Bec. Also a MASSIVE thanks has to go to Gordz and Dave J for working tirelessly on the dyno all day. It's very much appreciated guys. Also our other main helpers - Kath, Gav, and Tate, cheers! And lastly, Eric & Wendy - you guys ROCK!! I don't even have to say it anymore, but if anyone needs a trustworthy workshop to take their car too, especially for dyno work - get down to GoodGuys Performance Centre or give them a buzz on 9761-7261 (They are located at Factory 3, 2 Gatwick Rd, Bayswater). And so that was it for another year. The roller door was closed, and GoodGuys Performance Centre was left in peace once again.. - Brett Dyno Day Awards 2007This year, we presented 2 RARE SPARES Real Street Awards (Winners each received a $50 RARE SPARES voucher)
There was also a "Guess The kW" competition held (the car in question being Scotty's V8 Corolla). The closest guess to 148.7kW was Lee (Alex) - well done, what a great prize - a Dyno Voucher (1 Hour of Free Dyno Time) valued at $135.00. Lastly, a raffle was held for a slab of VB - the lucky winner was Brad D. DYNO DAY 2007 FACTS & FIGURES
