8th Annual All Holden Day – Flemington Racecourse

Sun 4th February 2007

Well what can I say, what a fantastic car show for all Holden owners and a great family day as well with rides etc for the kids. The event was held on Sunday 4th February at Flemington racecourse. I was the only car from Eastside to attend this year. It was an easy drive through the city and out to Flemington. Once parked inside, we all did the usual - finish final touches to the car, lift bonnets, clean wheels etc.

Once set up, I took a walk around for a look. As usual, there was everything from stock, modified, mild, wild and race cars. There was a few Supercharged, Turbo’d and Nitrous Oxide cars. All the VE Commodore range was on display from one of Melbourne’s Holden dealers. A good variation you could say. To my disappointment, the EFIJY was not on show. On the entry forms, they highlighted that the EFIJY was the show attraction. Not sure how many entered, but there was plenty to look at. A few late comers meant there was another part of the grounds to look at later.

The awards were supposed to start at 4pm, but they stuffed around and finally by 4:30pm, they started. A long wait on a bloody hot day. This year they were all over the shop. Starting from the 48-215, but when they hit the car’s from the 70’s, they skipped Torana’s, went back to EK and the Commodores were not in sequence of year. The Torana’s were finally last.
