Brocky's Big Day Out - Hurstbridge

Sun 15th April 2007

Started with getting two cars ready to go in the morning, along with a wife and a newborn baby. Big task, but by 8.30am on a Sunday morning the EH Limo and my EH sedan were both on the road heading through the countryside from Ringwood to Hurstbridge.

We cruised along nicely and found ourselves there at 9. The wait to get into the gate was not too bad, and when we got inside after a few minutes, it was very apparent how dry everything is as the dust was really starting to show. We got a spot just on the side of the grassed area, and quickly got the little man out and went to have a look at what cars were there.

It looked like about 200 cars, consisting in majority of HDT, HSV, Brock series Commodores and Torana's. The remainder were old Holdens, some Fiats, old American iron, rods, bikes, boats and a few oddball outsiders. The day ran quite well, and the facilities all were adequate. There were not many public spectators, and nearly all of the people looking at the cars were people with cars on display.

There was quite a bit of interest in the Limo and also my supercharged 202. I don't usually get much commentary, and it was surprising to get that many questions about it. Julie saw the Limo and was glad to see it was there again this year. She picked the Limo as her choice car last year, and this year the honour of picking a car was for Jim Richards. The winner was fantastic, beautiful red 57 Chev 2 door convertible. I have a pretty good eye for detail, and this was my stand out car for the day, so no surprise it took out top custom, top overall and choice of the day.
