Dandenong Slot Car / Pool Hall Night Cruise

Thurs 13th September 2007

It was a freezing cold Melbourne night, we met at the usual meeting spot of the Bunnings car park on Canterbury Rd. At about 8.00pm we started to head in the direction of the Slot Car Racing Track in Dandenong. There were probably around 15 or so cars that came along for the cruise with a few joining us on the way, choosing to meet us at the well positioned re-group stop.

Once arriving at the venue we all scattered all over the place looking for a car park. When we entered you could see that it was nothing like anyone had expected, but on that note I don't know what I expected! Everyone had a good look around while having a giggle about some of the things you could buy such as full Grand Stands and Spectators, that you could paint in your car colours so that your car has fans/supporters and so that it feels loved!!!

After watching the races for a while a few of the guys, actually a very large majority of the guys headed over to the Daytona Racing, to have a bit of a race against each other. After a while the decision was made that we would all head next door to the Pool Hall to have a bit of a social game, chat and drink. We even had a laugh at Schubes getting stopped at the front door by some random drunk wanting to see some ID, then suddenly he spotted Deb, so he ushered Schubes along as his interest had moved and so that he could attempt to talk with Deb, but Deb didn't hold the same interest in the random drunk so she just walked straight past him, leaving him a bit disappointed with himself. A few games of doubles were played, (Scotty I hope you have had some lessons since then) while others sat back and relaxed, it was good to just get a chance to chat in general to other members.

The slot cars weren't for everyone, but you never know if you don't try these things. Overall the cruise was a good night with great organization. Thanks to Grant for organizing it.
