The day started early for the competitors with a nice and early 7am arrival. Even though I didn't get there until later, I didn't miss out on any top quality action. Out of the 32 cars competing, there were 4 non-Nissan cars there! From ESC, James was parading around Calder in his newly rebuilt XR6, Michael was showing the smoke in his XE and Leigh was melting holes in his SR20 engine! There was also one of James' mates ripping around the track in his Supercharged VN SS. They all did very well in my opinion! One downside of the event was when Leigh was in the top 4 and he melted a hole in his piston, therefore rendering his car useless. He organised to borrow a 180SX, but the judges were not sure on whether to let him back out on the track, but after much heated conversation, Leigh was allowed back on. There was a re-run of the last race he was in, but due to the 180SX being so different and so slow compared to his Corolla, Leigh got knocked out. Well Done to Leigh though…if he had his Corolla, everyone agrees he would've taken 1st position! A great day in my opinion! - Steve K. |
