Lunar Car Show & Drive In Night

Sat 3rd February 2007

A great night at the drive-in’s this one. Run by the Classic & Rod Club of Vic, a few of us thought we’d head on over to see what it was like. Two club cars on the cruise there, with another three joining us later throughout the arvo. Arriving a little early around 5ish, we were greeted at Lunar Drive-In by a small collection of cars. So we filled in some time by sitting down and soaking up the sun, looking at the trade stands, listening to the DJ’s rock n roll music and Chris and myself even decided we’d earned ourselves a Crownie.

Come 7pm or so, the entire drive-in came alive. I’ve never seen it so packed out before, every single field was chockers full of hot rods, customs, muscle cars, and classics of all shapes and sizes. No empty car spots, it was a huge car show, my fav cars being the tricked up 55-57Chevy’s and the Rods. So much cool stuff to look at, what a great atmosphere!

Once the sun had set, we all settled in for the movies. I was surprised to hear this was Max’s first ever time at the drive-in too! It was a pretty nice night so many people set up their chairs and sat out under the stars, myself included. The highlight of that was constantly watching cool cars moving spots, or leaving. One minute it was a hot Mustang, the next a Camaro, then a Chev, then an XY, then an EH, then a Caddy... you get the idea...

All in all, a great night, very well run, lots of prizes and stuff, and great food. Will go again next year for sure!! Would have been even better with a huge turnout from the club, so keep it in mind for next time.
