A huge thanks to everyone who came along to support Deb on the opening night of the exhibition "A Fresh Look" - still running in Boronia until the 23rd July. The opening night was a huge success, and it was great to see many Eastsider's show up, several also bringing cars down to display amongst the other local clubs - which consisted of Pegasus Rod & Custom Club, Mountain District Rodders, and Southern Street Machiners. The Mayor gave a bit of a speech, as did Andrew Chapman - the award winning photographer responsible for the great shots. The light-boxes are designed to come alive at night time, with special transparent paper being used. At night time, they actually look more like LCD screens! In addition to the individual club shots, there are also 3 separate light-boxes featuring a collage of images - these are a must-see as they are chock full of cool cars and people from the Knox City Cruise Nights - look close enough and you'll also notice Eric and Wendy from GoodGuys with the Camaro featured multiple times too! I really think the Knox City Council have done the local car club scene proud with this exhibition. I wish we saw more projects like this being undertaken within the community. There have been many newspaper articles providing some great publicity too. To quote Andrew Chapman from one of the articles talking about the Knox Cruise Nights - "The guys just bring their cars. It doesn't appear to have a commercial aspect to it. Just go along and talk to your mates. Everyone else is just checking out each others cars. It's such a great night when they bring the cars to Knox. It's a great evening to stroll down and see what everyone is doing". True words indeed! Finally, thanks again to Tony at Summit Auto in Boronia for dobbing Deb in for the photo-shoot and enabling Eastside to be involved, it's greatly appreciated. For those yet to see the exhibition - it's well worth dropping past one night. Cinema Lane runs between Dorset Rd, and Dorset Square Shops (Melways Ref 64-K9). - Brett |
