On what seemed to be a lovely morning for cruising, we met up in what may have been in 2 different locations, but we met. We chatted and chatted and chatted. Then about an hour late we left Bayswater Bunnings. Due to small numbers we decided to remove the games and swinging from the cruise, so they are saved for next time, when no one suspects it! We headed through Montrose, Lilydale and then out to Yarra Glen. The weather started to look a little on the dodgy side but we had a really great run on some magnificent roads out to Healesville. We stopped there and waited for a few more cars to join our disappointingly small group. With 9 cars we headed up the highway toward Buxton. We went over the Black Spur, which is really black at the moment. We stopped for fuel and headed through to Buxton, via Marysville, it was a harrowing experience for all involved! We then ventured to Buxton for a burger; they were HUGE! Dave J ordered a small and it wouldn’t have fit on a normal plate. My thinking was well if we are going to support the locals then let’s do it in magnificent style, that was a mistake. I ordered a burger correctly named ‘The Cathedral’, it was the biggest thing I have ever tried, I, unlike a few others, was defeated by the mountainous burger! It was quite literally a foot high! We sat around and chatted there for a while, trying to absorb some of the food in our bulging stomachs, enjoying the sun the locals put on for us. We eyeballed a few of the stunning local’s cars, including a blown old school Rod! Then we all cruised home. It was a really fantastic cruise and everyone there had a ball and came to realise what the locals actually lived through, it was a good eye opener and memorial! Next time it would be great to see even more of us out for this, it was well worth it! - Big Dave |
