Yeah Dave all going well so far. Got a couple thousand km's clocked up now. The boys down at Dynomotive played with the exhaust system and fitted a stainless X-pipe and new mid-section. (It replaced a very crappy reverse facing balance pipe). The exhaust note has definitely improved both inside and outside the car now. Sounds heaps smoother, and it seems to have eliminated the cackly/thong-slappy note so I'm rapt.
After that it was onto the dyno. I wasn't chasing numbers but we were surprised it only made 230rwkW (works out to be around 440HP at the flywheel). I expected this engine to be in the high 400's with the roller cam, but it comes down to my old heads that were repaired.
When they were flowed, the numbers showed up as much as 30cfm down on the factory figures. We can get most of that cfm back with some port work to the valve seats and bowls, but I couldn't justify the cash during the rebuild. It would probably be more cost effective to sell these heads and buy something like a 195cc Alloy AFR street head, which flow even more again. So that's why it was slapped together as-is. For what I want right now, it drives like a dream, very torquey and strong, but still very timid. It's just frustrating knowing that with the right head flow I'd most likely have 500HP / 500 FT LBS! At least it gives me something else to save up for right
